Mountain View Hospice Society is a community-based charitable organization serving Olds, Mountain View County, and neighboring areas in Alberta. Founded by local residents concerned about access to hospice and palliative care, the Society has grown into a volunteer-supported network focused on compassionate, respectful care and meaningful connection. Its mission is to support individuals and families through end-of-life experiences and bereavement with holistic services, education, advocacy, and volunteerism.
The Society offers hospice and palliative support, grief and bereavement services, one-to-one bereavement facilitation, and Nav-CARE navigation for people and families seeking support. Its volunteer programs include practical assistance and an enhanced volunteer driver program. The organization also provides community education and training, including resources and online learning, and hosts events such as a Butterfly Release, Death Café, memorial gatherings, and fundraising activities. Through Nu2U Thrift Store, it provides a community retail service alongside its care work. Mountain View Hospice Society brings staff, trained facilitators, and more than 150 volunteers together to help people feel supported during life’s most difficult transitions.
