About Seattle Seafarers Center
Seattle Seafarers Center is an affiliate brand of The Mission to Seafarers and Stella Maris, dedicated to providing essential services and support to seafarers visiting the port of Seattle. With a rich history and a devoted staff, they aim to make a positive impact in the lives of seafarers through various services. The brand offers ship visits, providing valuable transportation for seafarers and offering recommendations for places to visit in Seattle.
They also prioritize seafarers' mental health and provide crisis resources. Additionally, they offer religious services and personal shopping assistance. The center's recent breakthrough in labor negotiations between the International Longshore & Warehouse Union (ILWU) and the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) highlighted their commitment to building meaningful connections with seafarers stuck in the port.
The director, Rich Shively, reflects on their recent achievements and the importance of ship visits. This summer, they are hosting the NAMMA's annual conference, bringing together maritime welfare organizations to enhance their services.
