Montgomery FD #2, also known as Montgomery Township Volunteer Fire Company Number 2, has been the trusted fire protection source for the southern portion of Montgomery Township since its establishment in 1946. As Somerset County Fire Station 46, they cover over 16 square miles, including both heavy commercial areas and rural farmland. The dedicated volunteers at Station 46 carry out a wide range of tasks, including fire suppression, vehicle extrication, and light technical rescue.

With a diverse fleet of emergency vehicles, Montgomery FD #2 is well-equipped to handle any situation. They operate 1 Tower Ladder (Tower 46), 2 Engines (Engine 467 and 468), 1 Medium Duty Rescue (Rescue 46), 1 Brush truck (Brush 46), 1 Utility vehicle (Utility 46), and 2 Command Cars (Car 46 and Car 46-2) from their central station located on Rt. 518.
