Mujeres Fuertes

Mujeres Fuertes is a holistic self-defense and empowerment project rooted in Costa Rica, supporting women, children, and people of all identities in building confidence and living with less fear. Its approach combines practical physical and verbal self-defense with yoga, mindful communication, ceremony, and community. Through workshops, courses, and retreats, participants are invited to strengthen their ability to say “No,” connect with an authentic “Yes,” and feel safer in their bodies, homes, and public spaces.

The project offers an independent digital course for learning at home, as well as a PDF handbook outlining its method, self-defense techniques, and ideas for continued practice. Private workshops and courses are also available for groups, businesses, and events. Additional offerings include Vagabunda, a guide to solo travel. Mujeres Fuertes shares articles and other resources on topics including assertive communication, gender-based violence, feminism, trauma, empathy, and social justice. Its work presents self-defense as a broader practice of personal empowerment, communication, and connection.
