About MU-JHU Care LTD
MU-JHU Research Collaboration, formed in 1988 between Makerere University in Uganda and Case Western Reserve University in the USA, is dedicated to improving health outcomes, particularly concerning HIV and related health issues. The founders, including notable researchers like Prof. Francis A.
Mmiro and Prof. Laura Guay, established a comprehensive Mother-Child HIV Research Centre at Mulago National Referral Hospital, becoming a pivotal entity in the fight against HIV transmission from mothers to children. Over the years, MU-JHU has transitioned into a recognized not-for-profit organization, expanding its research initiatives to encompass primary HIV prevention, tuberculosis management, women’s health, and child development interventions.
The organization is known for conducting landmark studies that influence health policies and provide essential services, such as the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) of HIV. With a commitment to integrity, teamwork, and innovation, MU-JHU collaborates with local and international partners to enhance health research, service delivery, and training programs that benefit communities in Uganda and beyond
