The Museum of Arts & Crafts is a renowned institution, established in 1880 as one of the first of its kind in Europe. With a focus on Arts & Crafts movement and Gottfried Semper's ideologies, the museum aims to create a collection of samples for artisans and artists to enhance everyday object production. However, the museum's founder, Izidor Kršnjavi, envisioned a much more progressive institution, combining art and crafts to create a wider scope for its future activities.

Over the years, the museum has developed its collections through acquisitions and donations, both locally and across Europe. It also houses a School of Applied Arts and Design. With its historicist palace, built in 1888, the Museum of Arts & Crafts complements the beautiful scenery of Zagreb.

Today, the museum boasts a vast collection spanning from the 14th to the 21st century, including furniture, glassware, metalwork, ceramics, sculpture, painting, graphic design, architecture, photography, textiles, fashion, and more. With its extensive exhibitions and educational programs, the museum aims to preserve traditional craft values while fostering a new aesthetic culture
