Murmelt is a free chat app designed for people who want to communicate anonymously and privately. It offers random chat with strangers without requiring users to create an account or provide a phone number or email address. The service is powered by Nostr, and users can choose the relays used for their messages.

Murmelt describes its conversations as end-to-end encrypted and says messages remain under users’ control. It also states that the service has no central servers and does not require registration, tracking, or an account. Visitors can start chatting or consult information about how the service works and its frequently asked questions.

Murmelt’s website also provides its Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and DMCA information, along with a channel for law enforcement matters. By combining random conversations with a focus on anonymity, encryption, and user-selected relays, Murmelt presents itself as an alternative to chat services that depend on conventional accounts and centralized infrastructure
