Château de Murol is a historic fortress and visitor attraction in Murol, in France’s Puy-de-Dôme department, overlooking the Massif du Sancy. Owned by the commune of Murol and managed by Kléber Rossillon, the château brings the life of a prosperous 15th-century Auvergne lordship to life. Visitors can explore reconstructed medieval living spaces at their own pace or join guided tours led by costumed characters from the court of Guillaume de Murol, whose well-preserved account book offers a detailed record of life at the fortress.

The château’s programme includes live performances, equestrian jousting, demonstrations of medieval crafts, educational activities and a military-themed experience where children can learn to become young knights. Open to visitors throughout the year, it also welcomes adult and school groups and offers online ticketing and a shop. Practical visitor services include a free electric shuttle up to the entrance for people with walking difficulties. The site provides a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape and invites visitors to experience history through its architecture, activities and seasonal events.
