About MUSASA
Musasa is a non-governmental organization founded in 1988, dedicated to addressing violence against women and girls. With a multidimensional approach, Musasa works to prevent and respond to Gender Based Violence (GBV) in Zimbabwe. Their four pillars - Prevention, Response, Advocacy, and MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning, and Accountability) - guide their programs and initiatives.
Musasa's efforts have had a significant impact on the policy direction of Zimbabwe in the area of GBV, culminating in the passing of the Domestic Violence Act in 2007. They offer a range of services including a 24-hour toll-free line, counseling, legal support, and shelter services. Their vision is a society where all women and girls are free from gender-based violence and can fully participate in development.
Musasa's mission is to work towards ending gender-based violence by targeting groups in society to challenge regressive beliefs, attitudes, behaviors, laws, and policies. With a commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, integrity, and client-centeredness, Musasa strives to provide excellent service and support
