Saved from demolition by the municipality in 1972, the site has served as a museum since 1981. It welcomes individual visitors, families, school groups, leisure centres, businesses, researchers, journalists, and groups, and provides practical information on opening hours, access, and admission.

It is open Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with late opening until 8 p.m. on the last Thursday of each month.
