About Musei in Comune Roma
The Giovanni Barracco Museum of Ancient Sculpture is part of the Civic Museums of Rome, managed by the Capitoline Superintendence for Cultural Heritage. Located at Farnesina ai Baullari on Corso Vittorio Emanuele in central Rome, it presents the collection assembled by Giovanni Barracco, a collector who believed that ancient art should be studied across different artistic traditions. The museum’s holdings include works from several ancient cultures, with featured objects such as a female royal sphinx, a stele of the dignitary Nefer, a Ptolemaic water clock and a kneeling winged figure.
Visitors can explore the collection through themed and room-by-room routes, a photographic gallery and digital resources. The museum also offers exhibitions, public events, educational activities for schools and other audiences, and guided tactile-sensory visits on request. Visitor services include practical information, tickets and audio guides, educational tours, guides and catalogues, and accessibility support.
The museum participates in Rome’s wider museum network, whose MIC Card provides year-round free entry to participating museums for a fee, with discounts on some separately ticketed exhibitions
