About Museu do Pontal
Located in Rio de Janeiro, Museu do Pontal is considered the largest and most significant museum of popular art in Brazil. Its collection, curated by French designer Jacques Van de Beuque over 45 years of research and travel throughout the country, consists of approximately 9,000 pieces created by 300 Brazilian artists from the 20th century onwards. The museum's exhibition space, spanning over a thousand square meters, is designed to immerse visitors in the enchanting world of popular art with its colorful and open layout.
Situated just 20 kilometers closer to the city center than its historic location, Museu do Pontal's new headquarters in Barra da Tijuca is easily accessible and close to popular attractions. Admission is free, but a minimum contribution of R$ 20 is encouraged to support the museum's educational programs and facilities. The museum is open from Thursday to Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm, with access to exhibitions closing at 5:30 pm.
To ensure a seamless visit, it is recommended to book tickets in advance via the Sympla platform. The museum also offers inclusive visits for individuals with disabilities and their companions on Saturdays from 9 am to 10 am, by appointment.
