About Museum im Herrenhaus
The Städtische Museum im Herrenhaus is a local history museum in Hausach, in Germany’s Ortenau region of the Black Forest. Housed in the former directors’ residence of the Fürstenberg hammer works, the Herrenhaus provides a setting for exploring the town’s past and the lives of its people. Its displays and online historical resources cover local buildings, streets, businesses, schools, community groups, notable residents and everyday life across generations.
The museum also presents exhibitions on subjects such as traditional carnival customs and the incorporation of Einbach into Hausach, alongside projects remembering individuals through Stolpersteine. Visitors can explore the rooms and features of the historic house, including its staircase, fireplace room and permanent exhibition spaces. The museum shares its work through events, a museum magazine, books, videos and the Heimatbrief/Burgblick publication.
Its website offers historical articles, press reports and information about opening hours and visits. Located at Hauptstrasse 1, the museum invites residents and visitors to discover, preserve and reflect on Hausach’s local heritage
