The flower bulb culture and the art, inspired by it are the subjects of our museum. We give an impression of the flower bulb trade: the growing of flower bulbs, the trade, the research and the breeding. We also tell the history of the flower bulb, from the coming of the first tulip to the Netherlands in 1594. Furthermore we show paintings with bulb fields, a beloved subject with painters , and still lifes of bulbous plants. And in our Gallery of Prints historic prints of bulbous plants can be admired. Tulip vases, hyacinth glasses and crocus pots are exhibited and we show how tulips, daffodils and other bulbous plants are used as embellishment for objects of silver, glass, porcelain and for furniture. Throughout the year we organise special presentations and exhibitions, always in relation to the flower bulb culture in all its aspects.
