About Museum of the Dog
The AKC Museum of the Dog is a unique cultural institution dedicated to celebrating the bond between humans and dogs through art and education. Established in 1982, the museum offers an extensive collection of over 1,700 pieces of fine art and a 4,000-volume library, all focusing on the significant role that dogs play in society. Currently located at 101 Park Ave in New York City, the museum features interactive exhibits and rotating displays that engage visitors in meaningful experiences with canine history and heritage.
Open from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, the museum also provides various educational programs for children and adults, community events, and opportunities for membership. Guests can explore the permanent collections, partake in guided tours, and even shop for unique dog-themed merchandise in the Museum Store. With a mission to inspire positive interaction with dogs, the AKC Museum of the Dog invites everyone to discover the heartfelt connection we share with our canine companions.
