The Music Center of Los Angeles County was born from Dorothy Buffum Chandler's vision of a performing arts center that would serve as a cultural focal point for Los Angeles — a center of arts and culture for the entire community. The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion opened in December 1964, its star-studded opening making international news and helping Los Angeles take a significant step forward as a world cultural city. Situated on an eleven-acre campus at 135 North Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles, the complex spans four iconic venues: the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Ahmanson Theatre, Mark Taper Forum, and Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Home to four world-class resident companies — Center Theatre Group, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, LA Opera, and the Los Angeles Master Chorale — The Music Center welcomes over two million visitors annually.
