The Music House Museum is a music-history museum in Williamsburg, Michigan, just north of Traverse City. Founded in 1983, it preserves and presents a distinctive collection of automated musical instruments and related artifacts, illustrating the craftsmanship, engineering, and changing sound of music from the late 18th century through 1950. Its exhibits trace a journey from music boxes to early recorded sound and radio, and docent-led tours give visitors the opportunity to learn about the collection and hear many instruments play.
A highlight is the 1922 Mortier dance organ, Amaryllis, originally built for a dance hall and café in Ypres, Belgium. The museum also offers concerts, silent-film events, workshops, educational programming, and special events throughout the year. Visitors can check its schedule and purchase tickets online or by phone. Additional ways to engage include exploring photo galleries and audio clips, shopping through the online gift shop, volunteering, donating, and booking the museum for events or weddings.
