Founded in 1983 by a group of classical music enthusiasts, Muson's main objective is to foster the understanding, enjoyment, and performance of classical and contemporary music in Nigeria. Muson boasts Nigeria's only professional Symphony Orchestra and a renowned Choir, which serve as platforms for training and nurturing young Nigerian artists and instrumentalists in classical and orchestral music.

Additionally, Muson operates the iconic Muson Centre, comprising the multi-purpose Shell Zenith Bank Hall, the Agip Recital Hall, and the Mobil Block School of Music, all set in a serene and beautiful environment. Muson also runs a basic school and a government-accredited School of Music, providing quality music education up to the professional level. With a regular program of concerts throughout the year and an annual Festival of the Arts, Muson is recognized as one of the greatest voluntary efforts in support of the arts.

However, it is important to note that Muson is a registered charity and does not receive any public funding. Its impactful work would not be possible without the generous grants, sponsorships, and donations from corporate and individual partners and supporters.
