Mustang Recovery Challenge is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that brings together recovery support and horse training to help people build resilience and pursue long-term sobriety. Its program pairs participants in recovery with wild mustangs, inviting them to learn how to partner with and train the horses. The experience is designed to mirror aspects of the recovery journey, helping participants develop emotional regulation, stress management, and resilience.

Teams train mustangs at locations in Idaho Falls and Rupert, Idaho, then take part in a horse show where they compete against one another. Participants can invite friends and community members to attend, and competitors may be eligible for prizes or a buckle. The organization also offers peer support; applications for the 2026 program have closed, but interested people are encouraged to use the contact form.
