Muzeum Turnov

The Museum of the Bohemian Paradise in Turnov is a regional museum devoted to the history, culture, nature and crafts of the Bohemian Paradise and the upper Jizera region. Its collections and exhibitions explore local folk culture, archaeology, geology and mineralogy, the history of gemstone working, and the tradition of jewellery making. Visitors can discover displays on mountaineering, historic artefacts and sculptures, as well as the museum’s treasury, which features royal crowns and other objects. The museum also presents temporary exhibitions, including work by contemporary jewellery artists, and hosts lectures, guided tours and cultural events.

Learning is an important part of the museum’s programme. Activities for school groups and the public bring the past to life through experimental archaeology, demonstrations and hands-on workshops, with topics such as prehistoric trade, ancient technologies, jewellery and crafts.
