Muzeum Podlaskie w Białymstoku

Muzeum Podlaskie in Białystok is a regional museum dedicated to collecting, preserving, conserving and sharing the heritage of Podlasie and the historic Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Its collections document the region’s history and the lives and creative work of people from these lands who contributed to Poland’s cultural heritage. Built over more than seventy years, the holdings include works of art, archaeological objects spanning the region’s history, archival materials, historical imagery and other material records.

Distinctive collections feature sixteenth-century frescoes from Supraśl, Tatar-related objects, coins, sculptures by Alfons Karny and works presented in the Gallery of Contemporary Art. The museum also cares for historic buildings, including the Great Synagogue, Branicki summer palace in Choroszcz, a nineteenth-century wooden villa in Białystok and the Art Nouveau Cytron family townhouse. Visitors can explore exhibitions, collections and educational activities, as well as talks, workshops and cultural events.

Through its museum branches and online resources, the institution aims to make its monuments and the knowledge developed by generations of museum professionals accessible to the public
