My Bag My Story is a Tennessee-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to improve the dignity and self-worth of children in foster care. Founded in 2019 by Cara Finger, an adoptee and foster parent, the organization responds to a common but troubling experience: children moving between homes with their belongings in trash bags or grocery sacks. Its mission is to replace those bags with a lasting symbol of care and belonging.

Through its direct-impact model, each sponsored backpack is matched with an identical bag and delivered to a child entering or moving through foster care. The organization provides high-quality backpacks and duffel bags, partnering with more than 60 Tennessee organizations to distribute them to children who need them. Individuals can sponsor a bag, while businesses and other organizations can support the work through corporate partnerships and matching programs. My Bag My Story also invites supporters to donate, share its message, and help expand its reach through its Adopt A County initiative.
