MyCoPortal, the Mycology Collections data Portal, is a collaborative online resource for exploring fungal diversity. Built on the Symbiota system, it brings together taxonomic, environmental, and specimen-based data supplied by universities, botanical gardens, museums, agencies, and other providers. The portal serves taxonomists, field biologists, ecologists, educators, and citizen scientists through user-friendly tools for searching and accessing collections information.
Users can explore records through basic and advanced searches, map searches, media browsing, and checklists covering fungi from North America and around the world. The data support dynamically generated, georeferenced species checklists, distribution maps, and interactive identification keys, alongside digital images documenting fungal diversity. Additional resources include collection statistics, taxonomy reports, links to related biodiversity portals, and information about projects and data use. MyCoPortal also invites visitors to participate as collaborators or regular users and welcomes feedback. In October 2025, the portal migrated to the University of Kansas Biodiversity Institute for maintenance by the Symbiota Support Hub. Its extensive records are contributed by a broad network of data providers.
