About of Myers Park Baptist
Myers Park Baptist is a brand that offers a unique program called Confronting Whiteness. This program is designed to guide participants on a spiritual journey of anti-racism and help them identify and dismantle their Whiteness. Over the course of nine weeks, participants will engage with writings and films by Black authors and filmmakers, completing assigned readings and viewings, and writing a racial autobiography.
The program consists of nine sessions, each lasting approximately 90 minutes. The participant's guide provides a new posture for addressing racial issues, incorporating spiritual practices to confront and undermine the power of Whiteness. Participants are encouraged to join a group led by a trained facilitator, who will use the facilitator's guide to conduct productive conversations.
Myers Park Baptist also offers resources for those who want to become facilitators themselves. By participating in Confronting Whiteness, individuals are challenged to understand their racial history and contribute to racial justice in their communities.
