NCEMNA

The National Coalition of Ethnic Minority Nurse Associations (NCEMNA) is a tax-exempt nonprofit professional organization founded in 1998 to advance equity and justice in nursing and health care. Bringing together five national ethnic nurse associations, NCEMNA represents a collective voice for approximately one million minority nurses and communities whose health experiences have often been marginalized. Its work focuses on increasing the diversity of the nursing workforce, promoting culturally competent, accessible, and affordable health care, and supporting the professional and educational advancement of ethnic minority nurses.

The coalition also educates consumers, health professionals, and policymakers about health issues affecting ethnic minority populations, develops nurse leaders in policy, practice, education, and research, and endorses best practices in these fields. Through advocacy, events, news, and public statements—including positions on health equity—NCEMNA encourages collaboration and action. The organization offers opportunities to become a member, participate in events, support its work, and receive updates.

Its five affiliates represent Alaska Native and American Indian, Hispanic, Black, Asian American and Pacific Islander, and Filipino nurses
