The Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP), part of the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation, gives young people from elementary school through college the opportunity to take part in organized shooting sports. Its programs include Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays, and Olympic disciplines such as Bunker Trap, Trap Doubles, and International Skeet. SCTP describes itself as the official feeder program to USA Shooting and a pathway toward the U.S. Olympic Shooting Team.
Teams are led by trained adult coaches and emphasize safe firearm handling in a supportive environment. Through practices, team participation, and competitions, student athletes can build communication, focus, patience, confidence, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. The program also encourages positive character, citizenship, mentorship, and lasting connections among athletes, coaches, and families.
SCTP offers resources and forms, coach training, events, results, news, and information about membership and starting or joining a team. Its website also features college and scholarship information, national and international team updates, and a store.
