Mzima Springs Sacco is a well-established brand that was founded in 1983 by a group of employees from Strathmore School. Initially intended to cater to the school's subordinate staff, the SACCO saw significant growth over time, eventually extending membership to all employees of the institution. In 1992, when the school expanded to Madaraka estate, concerns arose regarding the SACCO's continuity.

However, a decision was made to retain the existing SACCO structure and accommodate all members of the college. This agreement proved vital in fostering the growth of Mzima Springs Sacco, which now serves not only Strathmore School but also other institutions within the Strathmore group. With a vision to be an organized and competitive source of development for its members, the SACCO strives to provide leadership in lending and promote responsible borrowing in collaboration with employer centers.

Mzima Springs Sacco prides itself on upholding values such as integrity, excellence, collaboration, and innovation. As of December 2019, the SACCO had a total of 951 active members. With a strong commitment to meeting the needs of its members, Mzima Springs Sacco continues to play a significant role in empowering its community through prudent financial management and adhering to lending policies
