The Latvian National Defence Academy is Latvia’s higher education institution for preparing people for military careers and life. It offers professional higher education focused on defence, leadership and military service, including the professional bachelor’s programme in Land Forces Military Leadership. The Academy promotes physical fitness and leadership development, and students learn alongside professionals from Latvia and NATO countries. According to the Academy, studies are state-funded, students receive pay while studying, and graduates have a guaranteed career after completing their studies.

Beyond its degree programmes, the Academy offers secondary-school students opportunities to explore its courses, learning environment and facilities. Its activities also include research through the Security Research and Innovation Centre, which contributes to work on security and democratic resilience, including international publications. The Academy maintains a library and provides access to books and an electronic catalogue. Through teaching, research, library resources and international cooperation, the institution supports the education and development of future military professionals.
