The Naarebaschi Clique is a Basel-based carnival club devoted to the traditions of Fasnacht, including drumming and piping. Founded in 1978 by a group of carnival enthusiasts, the club soon developed into a formation with drum and pipe sections, a supporting group and a youth division. A group for younger children, known as the Binggis, followed shortly afterward.
The club takes part in Basel Fasnacht, the highlight of its annual calendar, as well as pre-carnival events and traditional music competitions. Its members regularly participate in the Official Drumming and Piping Competition and in Swiss regional and national drumming and piping festivals. The Naarebaschi Clique also provides a pathway for young performers: musical training begins with the Binggis from age seven and continues in the Junge Garde during the teenage years.
In addition to its performance activities, the club makes its cellar available for private occasions, such as birthday celebrations, and as a practice space for drum and pipe groups. Interested visitors can contact the club for information and rental enquiries.
