About Deutscher Bibliotheksverband e.V.
The Nacht der Bibliotheken (Night of the Libraries) is an innovative initiative that brings together libraries across Germany to celebrate the importance of knowledge sharing, discovery, and community engagement. Scheduled for April 4, 2025, this nationwide event is centered around the theme Wissen. Teilen. Entdecken. (Knowledge. Share. Discover.) and is expected to include over 4,300 unique events, drawing more than 250,000 visitors. The event marks a milestone as the first time libraries from all 16 German states will participate, showcasing their commitment to making knowledge accessible and fostering a culture of sharing stories and information.
From engaging workshops and impactful readings to informative tours, the Nacht der Bibliotheken offers a diverse array of activities designed to reconnect attendees with their local libraries in meaningful ways. With past success dating back to 2005 in North Rhine-Westphalia, the excitement builds for the second nationwide event scheduled for April 23, 2027, ensuring a bright future for public libraries across the country.
