Steinerlekskolan Näckrosen is a Swedish-language Steiner early childhood centre in Helsinki, run by the registered association Föreningen Steinerlekskolan Näckrosen rf. It offers childcare and early education guided by Steiner pedagogy, with children’s needs and stages of development at the heart of its work. The centre aims to provide a calm, warm and secure environment where children can build confidence and social skills through steady rhythms, imaginative play and caring relationships.

Daily activities include storytelling, which supports children’s language development and encourages shared imaginative play. Children also enjoy varied play opportunities designed to foster cooperation, practical skills and problem-solving. Näckrosen serves a mainly vegetarian, organic diet, prepared on site by its cook, with a warm lunch and a snack each day. Children spend time both indoors and outdoors, surrounded by natural materials such as wood, wool, silk and cotton. Its location beside Central Park allows for regular forest outings, at least once a week.
