About NAFGEM Tanzania
NAFGEM Tanzania is a dedicated association focused on ending harmful practices towards women, particularly female genital mutilation (FGM). Through educational seminars, workshops, and awareness campaigns, we aim to empower grassroots communities in Tanzania to abandon these customs. We operate safe shelters and day-care centers in Lekrimuni, Mikocheni, and soon in Simanjiro and Mwanga districts, providing a haven for girls fleeing FGM and forced marriages.
Since our establishment in 1998, we have made significant strides, reducing the prevalence of FGM in Kilimanjaro and Manyara regions. Our work also extends to women's economic empowerment projects and promoting girls' education. Join us in our mission to create a safer and more empowered future for women and girls in Tanzania.
