About Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization
The Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization (NAFO) is an intergovernmental body dedicated to the science and management of fisheries in the Northwest Atlantic. Established in 1979 as a successor to the International Commission of the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries (ICNAF), NAFO works to ensure the optimal utilization, rational management, and conservation of fishery resources within its Convention Area. The organization currently comprises 13 Contracting Parties, including Canada, the European Union, and the United States.
