New Akyem Development Foundation (NAkDeF) is a reputable brand that operates as a company limited by guarantee. Established in June 2014, NAkDeF serves as the Social Responsibility Vehicle for Newmont Golden Ridge Limited and a Community Development Agency for the ten mining communities in the Akyem area. With a nine-member Board of Trustees representing Newmont and the community, NAkDeF collaborates closely with the seven-member Sustainable Development Committees (SDCs) in each town to plan, implement, and manage developmental projects.

Funding for the projects comes from Newmont's contribution to the community, including US$1 per ounce of gold sold and 1% of Newmont Akyem Mine's pre-tax profits. These funds are used to drive sustainable development and impactful social investment activities in various thematic areas, such as human resource development, infrastructure provision, socio-economic empowerment, culture heritage support, sports and youth development, voluntary organizations, and natural resource projects.
