Napa Humane, also known as the Humane Society of Napa County & SPCA, is a non-profit organization that has been advocating for the better treatment of homeless animals since 1973. Recognizing the need for improved animal care in Napa County, the founders of Napa Humane worked closely with the municipal animal services agency to bring about change. They started by offering a groundbreaking spay/neuter referral service to help control pet overpopulation.

Over time, Napa Humane expanded its efforts to include lost and found services, humane education, and a small adoption center. In 1990, the organization acquired a fully-equipped veterinary clinic to provide high-volume, affordable spay/neuter services. Despite facing a setback in 2001, when their shelters were razed due to a construction project, Napa Humane emerged even stronger.

Instead of simply housing animals, they shifted their focus to prevention by addressing irresponsible pet ownership through education and support. As a community service organization, Napa Humane is dedicated to improving the lives of both animals and their caretakers.
