The NAREB Development Fund (NDF) is a nonprofit loan fund focused on helping early-stage real estate developers access flexible predevelopment financing. Operating as an Emerging Community Development Financial Institution, it works at the intersection of education, small-business growth, capital access, and community development. NDF’s dual-program model combines the NAREB Developers Academy with financing opportunities through the NDF Capital Network, aiming to address gaps in predevelopment funding while supporting sustainable revenue streams.
The NAREB Developers Academy provides an educational pathway for emerging developers and is now part of the NDF website. Its programming includes in-person opening and closing sessions at NAREB’s Mid-Winter and National Conferences. NDF also announces cohort opportunities, including a 2027 Academy cohort for Houston’s Congressional District 9.
Through its financing and education initiatives, the fund supports developers as they build knowledge and pursue real estate projects. NDF has recognized Keisha Walker of L&D Investment Properties LLC as its first grant recipient, receiving the Fifth Third Bank Small Business Grant.
