Narni Sotterranea

Narni Sotterranea is an archaeological and historical attraction in the centre of Narni, Italy, managed by the nonprofit Associazione Culturale Subterranea. Discovered in 1979, the underground site brings visitors into spaces connected with the history of the former Holy Office, presented through a story that links the past with ongoing research and discoveries. Since 1994, the association has investigated historical records, including documents from the former Holy Office, Trinity College Dublin and the Vatican Secret Archive, and has shared its work through publications and a documentary film.

Visitors explore the site on a guided tour lasting approximately 75 to 90 minutes. Tours are available by reservation, with Italian-language guiding and audio guides in English, French and German; written materials are also offered in several other languages. The association welcomes school groups with educational visits adapted to students’ ages and provides accessibility by arrangement for wheelchair users, visitors who are blind and visitors who are deaf. Narni Sotterranea also organizes events and offers information about the nearby ancient aqueduct.
