The Jefferson St. Jazz & Blues Festival, founded in 1994, is a vibrant celebration at the heart of Nashville's African American community, highlighting the cultural richness of Jefferson Street. Organized by the Jefferson Street United Merchant’s Partnership (JUMP), the festival serves as a platform to showcase local businesses, music, and the community's spirit.
This annual event stands as the largest public music festival in North Nashville and Middle Tennessee, drawing both residents and visitors to experience a diverse lineup of jazz and blues performances. Historically significant, Jefferson Street was a hub for legendary musicians like Little Richard, Jimi Hendrix, and Ray Charles during its peak in the mid-20th century. Today, the festival not only honors this rich musical heritage but also reflects the ongoing revitalization of the area, marked by new businesses, restored landmarks, and community engagement initiatives.
