National Capital Trackers

The National Capital Trackers (NCT) is a 501(c)(3) model railroad club for O-gauge electric train enthusiasts in Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, and suburban Maryland. Operating since 1991, the club brings together members of all ages to share their enthusiasm for model railroading, which it describes as “America’s Greatest Hobby.” NCT is a traveling group, setting up large train layouts at shows and public venues throughout the year. Its displays can be found at railroad museums, public libraries, senior citizen centers, and veterans’ homes.

Members run trains using Wi-Fi-connected tablets and cell phone apps designed by MTH and Lionel. The club also supports members who want to create their own layout modules, with construction standards to guide their designs; new members may also purchase an existing module. NCT offers opportunities to contribute modules to shared layouts and operate favorite locomotives at events. Its website provides club information, a calendar, membership resources, forms, by-laws, apparel, videos, and support materials for Trackmaster modules. The club encourages creativity, learning, and fun through hands-on participation.
