The National Council of Churches (NCC), based in Washington D. C., has been a leading voice for Christ since 1950. It unifies a diverse covenant community of 37 member communions and over 30 million individuals, comprising 100,000 congregations from various traditions such as Protestant, Anglican, Orthodox, Evangelical, historic African-American, and Living Peace.

The NCC is dedicated to advocating and representing God's love and unity in the public square. The NCC works closely with secular and interfaith partners to advance a shared agenda of peace, progress, and positive change. Their mission is to live as a community of communions called by Christ to visible unity and promote God's justice, peace, and the healing of the world.

The NCC fulfills this mission by proclaiming Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, engaging in ecumenical worship and study, challenging and counseling one another, sharing resources for unity and mission, striving for peace and justice, practicing responsible stewardship of God's creation, serving people in need, fostering education about and for ecumenism, cultivating relationships with other ecumenical bodies, groups, and movements, engaging in dialogue with people of other faiths, and demonstrating commitment to justice and equality. With a statement of faith that aligns them with the transformative power of the Holy Spirit, NCC member communions work together to grow in understanding, celebrate diversity, and address critical needs in society
