About National Fire Chiefs Council
The National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) is the professional voice of the UK fire and rescue service. They drive improvement and development throughout the UK FRS, supporting strong leadership across the devolved administrations. The NFCC delivers a collaborative approach where everyone works together and offers sector-led solutions.
The NFCC Chair is the single point of contact for the Home Office, fire professionals, and partners such as the Local Government Association and the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners. They represent fire and rescue in government and sector forums, providing advice to Ministers during major incidents. The NFCC works closely with the Scottish Parliament, Northern Ireland Assembly, and the Welsh Parliament to ensure a cohesive approach across the UK.
Every fire and rescue service is entitled to be represented on the NFCC, ensuring all voices are heard. The work of NFCC is directed by an Annual Plan, underpinned by committees that report progress and help deliver fire reform. The NFCC aims to create a safer, more efficient, and effective fire and rescue service for the entire UK
