About NatlMarriageProject
The National Marriage Project, established in 1997 by Rutgers University Sociology Professor David Popenoe, is now based at the University of Virginia under the direction of W. Bradford Wilcox. This nonpartisan initiative aims to conduct research and analysis on the state of marriage in America, exploring the social and cultural influences on contemporary marriages.
The project's goals include publishing reports like "The State of Our Unions," studying marriage trends among young adults, providing accurate information to various stakeholders, researching the impact of factors like children, race, class, and religion on marriage quality, and facilitating collaboration among marriage and family experts. Through research, conferences, publications, and media outreach, the NMP seeks to enhance the understanding of marriage dynamics and strengthen marital bonds in society.
