Nationalpark Eifel

Nationalpark Eifel is a protected natural area in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, founded in 2004 and covering 110 square kilometres. Its central mission is to protect the region’s habitats and wildlife while allowing nature to develop with increasing independence. More than half of the park already follows the principle of letting nature take its course, supporting the return and spread of threatened species such as wildcats, black storks and eagle owls.

The park invites visitors to experience its evolving wilderness through forests, open grasslands, wetlands and scenic lake landscapes. Its offerings include free ranger-led walks, guided tours with specialist guides, suggested hiking routes and the four-stage Wildnis-Trail. Visitors can also explore the Wildnis(t)räume interactive exhibition at the National Park Centre, attend activities for children, families and schools, and discover the International Dark Sky Park through stargazing events. Information centres, accessible nature experiences and visitor resources help people plan their visit. Certified National Park hosts provide accommodation and hospitality in the surrounding region.
