Euchee Butterfly Farm is a family-rooted butterfly conservation and education initiative in rural Oklahoma, on land deeded to Neosho Parthenia Brown, a woman of Euchee and Creek descent, in 1899. Today, under the direction of her great-granddaughter, the farm supports economic self-sufficiency for Muscogee (Creek) citizens and raises awareness of the importance of conserving native butterflies and their ecosystems.
Its Natives Raising Natives Project, founded in 2013, trains tribal members to become butterfly farmers by providing training, supplies, and technical support. The project also aims to create sustainable economic opportunities for Native people in rural Oklahoma, give Native youth hands-on science learning that builds STEM skills, and promote conservation of habitats supporting butterflies and other threatened pollinators. All butterflies at the farm are raised through this initiative, described as the only tribal butterfly farming program in the United States.
Visitors can book farm tours, and the website also offers event bookings, wedding services, and gift certificates.
