Natural Hazards Research Australia is a collaborative research organization funded by the Australian Government. With a mission to address the challenges posed by natural hazards, including bushfires, floods, cyclones, heatwaves, and storms, the center focuses on natural hazard resilience and disaster risk reduction. Working in the emergency management and disaster resilience sector, the center collaborates with partners at all levels of government, industry bodies, not-for-profit sectors, and research organizations to create safer and more resilient communities.

Building on the legacy of the Bushfire CRC and the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC, the center has expanded its governance, increased its presence outside Victoria, and established research nodes in Queensland and New South Wales. With a collation of national research priorities in place, the center is currently undertaking its first round of projects, with more to follow in 2022. Additionally, a postgraduate student program and quick response research fund are now available
