Nature and Human Health Utah (NHH-UT) is a collaborative initiative based in the University of Utah’s College of Health, Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism. It works to strengthen connections between natural environments, health, and communities across Utah, with an emphasis on equity, access, and shared impact. NHH-UT brings together partners and expertise from fields such as parks and recreation, biology, environmental studies, urban planning, and sociology to support research and programs that advance understanding of nature’s role in public health.

The initiative offers services to nonprofits, government offices, and other organizations, including help with research-to-practice efforts, evaluation, networking, student-led projects, and workshops. Its activities also include pilot grants, collaborative research, research dissemination, events, and special projects. NHH-UT shares practical knowledge through monthly research briefs, articles, infographics, statewide resources, and a blog. It also hosts conferences and community events that encourage people to connect with nature and explore its potential benefits for well-being.
