About Nature Kenya
Nature Kenya is Africa's oldest environmental society, established in 1909 as the East Africa Natural History Society (EANHS). Their mission is to promote the study and conservation of nature in eastern Africa. As a non-political and not-for-profit membership society, Nature Kenya is dedicated to protecting Kenya's biodiversity and advocating for policies that support conservation.
Nature Kenya focuses on five pillars from 2022 to 2032: Save Species and Sites, Foster Sustainability, Build Support, Act on Science, and Consolidate Structures. These pillars aim to advance knowledge of Kenya's biodiversity, promote conservation of key species, sites, and habitats, encourage community participation in conservation, and advocate for policies favorable to biodiversity conservation. Recognizing that nature is our life support system and essential for people's well-being, Nature Kenya believes that saving nature is not a choice but an obligation.
