Naturschutzzentrum Märkischer Kreis e.V.

Naturschutzzentrum Märkischer Kreis e.V. is a biological conservation centre in the Märkischer Kreis district of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. One of around 40 biological stations in the state, it works to support the environmentally responsible development of nature and landscapes. The centre develops approaches to habitat and species conservation and carries out practical conservation measures with a range of partners. It also connects the work of volunteer conservation groups with public authorities and the interests of land managers.

A central part of its work is the care and management of nature reserves in the district, as well as land belonging to associations, foundations and support groups. The centre also devotes substantial attention to traditional orchards, promoting regional fruit varieties, orchard biodiversity and tree sponsorships. Its activities include nature education for schools, children and young people, holiday programmes, projects and public events. Workshops and courses cover topics such as orchard tree pruning and nature-based activities.
