De Maashorst is a large, contiguous nature area in North Brabant, the Netherlands, promoted as Brabant’s “primeval” landscape and supported by a partnership of local organizations. It encompasses a quiet nature core and surrounding natural and lively transition zones, set among the communities of Bernheze, Maashorst and Oss. Its varied scenery includes forests, heathland, drifting sand dunes, pools and historic avenues, offering visitors a chance to experience a landscape shaped by natural processes.

The area welcomes visitors for walking, cycling, mountain biking and horse riding, with routes and starting points to help plan a trip. Its website provides practical information on access, parking, public transport, visitor rules and trail networks, as well as guidance for families, dog owners and visitors with disabilities. Visitors can also find information about places to eat and drink and accommodation options. A notable wildlife experience is the grazing area, where walkers can observe wisents, Exmoor ponies and Tauros cattle on designated paths during its seasonal opening period.
