Natuurwacht Bommelerwaard

Natuurwacht Bommelerwaard is a nature conservation association focused on the landscapes and wildlife of the Bommelerwaard region in the Netherlands. It promotes local knowledge of nature and practical action to protect biodiversity, working with residents, volunteers, landowners, farmers, municipalities, and conservation organisations. Its volunteer groups focus on species and habitats including farmland birds, small mustelids, barn owls, butterflies, plants, kestrels, ponds, and wider birdlife, alongside landscape management and nature walks.

The association organises public activities such as guided walks, talks, and information evenings, covering topics from local bats to biodiversity projects. It also coordinates hands-on conservation work, including maintaining hedgerows, planting native shrubs, and creating herb-rich strips and small biodiversity woodlands to support wildlife. Through publications, member magazines, newsletters, and projects such as a regional bird atlas, Natuurwacht Bommelerwaard shares information about the area’s natural environment.

The organisation welcomes new members and volunteers and provides opportunities for people to contribute to nature conservation close to home
